Kings Beach Commercial Core Timeline

The outreach and community input for the Kings Beach Core Improvement Project has been unprecedented. This timeline illustrates the financial and human resource commitments to the process, completed community planning meetings and the public outreach meetings surrounding the project from inception through the planned certification of the EIR and onto Project Design.

  • The County should be commended for its commitment to the project and the community. Many residents and business owners are thankful for the opportunity to have participated.
  • The NLTRA has committed considerable funds to the project and to the planning process itself. It has been instrumental in obtaining additional funds through State and Federal sources. It has extensively publicized all public meetings and has participated in those meetings.
  • The NTBA established the Mainstreet program as a methodology to revitalize the commercial core. The NTBA/Mainstreet program facilitated many of the public meetings. Staff, committee members and board members have attended numerous public outreach and planning meetings.
  • Hundreds of meetings and thousands of volunteer hours have been invested in the planning process over the last seven years.
  • The Placed Based Planning process was the largest public outreach effort in Basin History. Kings Beach received overwhelming feedback confirming the need for revitalization.

The process has been informed, interactive and inclusive, open and transparent.
